Last Sunday I went to London with my friends to attend Comicon. In case you are unsure of what Comicon actually is, it is a large scale Comic and Popular Arts convention, where most people dress up as characters they love.

This was my first time at Comicon, with it being the second time for my friends who attended last October. I decided to go along this time out of curiosity and good reviews from those who went last time. I am not really into comics and the sort of things that the convention involves, however I thought I’d go for the social side of things.

As promised to those who follow me on Instagram and Twitter, I have put together this post to tell you about my experience and the costumes I saw there.

So as I said before, I went with my friends, there were 3 of us in total. I dressed up as Mario and my friend Lydia, dressed up as Luigi, to create the Mario Brothers. This relates to us both as we are practically like sisters, so it made sense! We both made our costumes by purchasing items from High Street stores, making sure we could wear them again in the future.

My other friend, Rosie, dressed up as the Queen of Hearts, again the same as us, creating her costume using items from the High Street that she can wear again or already owns. The cute little white hearts on her dress were hand-crafted and sewn on by herself, to give a unique finish.

We caught an early train up to London, catching tube after tube to reach the venue of the event. In October, the queues to get in were apparently super long, however to our surprise; there were no queues at all!  We strolled right in, without a care in the world, until we reached the food hall. None of us had had breakfast because of the super early start and thought we may as well get something when we arrived, by this time we were starving and willing to eat just about anything! We found Costa Coffee also to find a long queue of lots of other hungry cosplayers (I believe they are Called)! Another long wait for food was ahead of us!


 Once food was ordered and eaten, we bumped into some of my other friends, Lauren, Becky and Martina, all dressed up fantastically!  Lauren was dressed as Alice, from Alice in Wonderland. She again also bought items of the High Street that could be worn again. I loved her costume so much; she looked so pretty and Alice-like! Becky wore an amazing Mad Hatter costume which seemed to go down very popular with the other people at the event as she had a lot of people coming up to her asking for photos! Martina was dressed as Pocahontas in an amazing costume that was so accurate!

At the event there were 2 halls full of all sorts of stalls and games. Each stall was categorised into a section, for example all the comics were together and all the Anime were together. Even after looking round each hall about 100 times, I still don’t think I saw everything. There were also stalls that sold things like jewellery and clothing. There was this amazing clothing stall called 'Kaotichandbag' that sold all things comics! This company is owned by a lovely lady who makes all of the items, minus a few, although these are still all handmade. The company is based in Bournemouth where she has a shop, however she also has a website, eBay-shop and Facebook page; you have to take a look at these amazing products!

There was also a fantastic range of food stalls, from Chinese to Japanese, Italian to Burgers. Yum-yum!

Across the day, we all had our photos taken with various people, some of the photos we took others we were approached for! Below see some of the great outfits others wore!

To finish the day off, once we had finished at the convention, we took a stroll out of the venue and caught the Cable Carts across the River Themes where we caught a fantastic view of the Docklands and London. I had never been on these before and was a little nervous, but I am SO glad we did as it was amazing! The view and the ride!

Overall I had a fabulous day out at Comicon and in London; I will definitely be going again!

As promised, I have put together a little shopping haul, after my stressful day of two (yes two!!!) shopping trips yesterday!  It was originally meant to be just one, however after spending the whole day in one town and not buying the items I desperately needed for the next day, I ventured out to another, finally getting what I needed, along with a few cheeky additional items. This haul will probably seem tiny, in comparison to my other hauls, but a hauls’ a haul!

So the first item I bought was a simple red vest top, of which I needed for my Mario Costume today. This top is from Asda and cost £3.00. It is a soft, stretchy material which has kept me comfortable all day. As the shade of red is SO bright, I am unsure of whether I will wear the top again, however as it was so cheap it doesn’t really matter.

The next item bought was the Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Pencil in the shade 011 Sable Brown. Again I needed this for my Mario Costume to draw on a moustache; however I will defiantly use this again. It is perfect for one of those casual days when I want to go for a natural barely there look. It runs along my water line and eyelid easily giving an intense colour that you would expect. I bought it from Tesco for £2.99.

I then took a trip to New Look, where I found a pair of brown work-boot style, lace up ankle boots in the Generation section. As I have fairly small feet, I can still buy shoes from this section. The moment I saw them I feel in love with them! They were the last pair in the shop and luckily my size. Even better they were reduced to £10.00 from £24.99. Bargain! They remind me of little Timberland boots, which I suppose attracted me to them in the first place. My idea for these boots is to wear them with my little Topshop frill socks and depending on the weather, either, a pair of blue denim super skinnies or a pair of denim hot pant style shorts.

Also in New Look, I purchased some items for my Prom outfit.

Firstly, I bought my shoes. As I have a short dress to wear, I thought it would be appropriate to have a pair of statement chunky heels and had been looking for the perfect pair for ages. I had fallen in love with a pair from Topshop, but, unfortunately they were way out of my price range. So I decided New Look may be the place, and I was right! After a long times hunting and trying on about 50 different pairs, in all sorts of colours I found the perfect ones, even more perfect than those I found in Topshop! They cost £28.99 and are the comfiest heels I have EVER worn! As they are platform, and chunky, they feel a lot lower than they actually are!

I then, after choosing my shoes, and following my decided colour scheme for my look, bought a cute clutch bag with a sweet and pretty lace detail, bag leather effect and a golden clasp. The bag also has a thin, delicate chain that can be used to make the bag a shoulder bag rather than one to be held. It cost £9.99 and is also available in a whitey cream colour.

So a key colour and trend this season is white...it is seen across every item of clothing, from shorts to shoes and tees to trousers.

 The plain and simple colour can be accompanied by a complimentary  colour, such as pastel purple, or with cute embellishments such as Daisy Organza Tee from Topshop (pic listed below) which is hemmed with pretty daisies. Many other trends for Summer 2014 are also appearing across the White Trend, such Daisy Print (a personal fave of mine) and of course the LWD (Little White Dress) is back once again!

The trend/ colour also stretches to shoes! And there are some amazing shoes across the high-street perfect for any occasion. I particularly love the Molly T-bar Flat Shoes by ASOS. I love the cute cut out details and vintage doll style! They are just very me! ASOS also has a great range of other white, on trend shoes, for those of you who prefer a different take on the trend than me.

As the colour white is very minimalistic, it can be dressed up a little by teaming it with bright coloured lipstick, or statement jewellery. I recently saw a white pair of shorts being worn with a vibrant red lipstick and blue stripy top! Very Sailoresque, but also very cute and summery!

So a new month marks a new store of the month! This month it is.......Motel Rocks. Now I know a lot of people have not heard of this brand, I hadn't until pretty recently, but since discovering it have become in love with its quirky fashions and prints. I have to admit I do prefer the clothing ranges to the jewelry, shoes and accessories!

Motel Rocks, or Motel as it is often referred to, is an online store that was established in the late 1990's. Its main focus is on unique, vintage and edgy fashions that are inspired by the American vintage and thrift shops that the company wants to bring to the UK. The site offers you advice on the latest trends, exclusive offers and a complete new outlook n fashion! Although it is based in the UK, it does offer shipping to America, Europe, Canada and Australia.

I have often mentioned Motel products on my other posts so thought that it would be perfect for my store of the month this month.

I am writing this post having not actually bought anything from the site, so cannot comment on my personal experience,  however I do know people who have bought from this site (multiple times) and have said it is great! It is free delivery unless otherwise selected.

The products can be a little pricey, but I believe it is well worth the money for most of their items which I don't think I have seen elsewhere!

The company also sells brands! The most famous being Dr Martens which range in price from £75.00 to £110.00.

One of my favourite trends if definitely the Daisy Prints which are featured throughout the site across all products, and as you all know I love my Daisy Prints!!
