Think back to the 1990's where one of AW16's biggest trends on the catwalk took off. We're talking velvet.
Fashion Week staged an array of velvet treats from various designers including Gucci, Prada, Nina Ricci and Fendi. And of course its hit the highstreet too, making its way into various trend sets in our favourite high street stores.
Velvet on the Catwalk
GUCCI Fall/Winter 2016/2017 |
PRADA Fall/Winter 2016/2017 |
RALPH LAUREN Fall/ Winter 2016/2017 |
EMPORIO ARMANI Fall/ Winter 2016/2017 |
Perfectly transitioned from the Catwalk to the High Street, this luxurious and sophisticated look can be easily created.
Velvet on the High Street
ASOS £60.00 |
Topshop £69.00 |
Topshop £35.00 |
Whats more, Velvet in fashion doesn't just stop at clothing, it expands to bags, shoes and the classic 90's velvet jewellery and hair accessories!!! These boots are my favourite:

New Look £29.99 |
I will certainly be wearing this trend this AW16/17, and may have to invest in the boots at some point <3
What's your favourite velvet piece this season?

Hey Everyone,
So this Summer I had so much planned for you all on Daisy Chain Fashion, I even had all my posts planned out up until December!! But as you know its been lacking, I mean my last post was back in mid-July; its practically mid- September now, thats a whole two months of nothing. I won't lie, this has upset me a bit, (#worldsworstbloggeraward?) but the only explanation I can really give is, I guess
"Life Just Got In The Way"
and I'm sorry.
So what have I been up to this Summer?
Well the first thing is I've been on some amazing breaks and holidays; I went on a little adventure to London with my boyfriend for a day and a night which was so amazing!!<3.
A few weeks later I flew off off to Menorca with my mum and dad for a family holiday- our first holiday abroad for 10 years!! I had planned on blogging my Menorca trip... but then a next major blogging barrier happened:
I GOT A NEW JOB!! I now work in fashion retail and I LOVE it! So I was working there on average 3-4 days a week across the Summer and will continue to work there from now on!
My spare days I've spent with my friends, filling every last moment I have with them before they all whisk off to University. I've I had lots of Pub Fridays, cute trips out and even conquered my Peddle Boat fear (long story....)
Lastly... I'm now a Student at the FRA (Fashion Retail Academy) which I attend 2 days a week where I study Digital Marketing for Fashion. Its going well, lots of trips and fun things, but early mornings and late mornings make it slightly more harder... 4:55am wake up anyone?!
So that's my busy Summer!
I do definitely plan to start regular blogging soon now I'm sort of back in a routine, once I've got out of my insane writers block I'm experiencing right now! I have had a lovely suggestions for posts from the lovely Ella Sykes (ellasykesblog.wordpress.com) to get me going though, and I can;t wait to get posting!!

Hey Everyone!
A good foundation is essential in almost everyone's 'full-face' makeup routine. If you don't have a good foundation, you can end up without that flawless base you strive for. Some people would suggest avoiding cheaper brands of the product, and those who have the funds will often head towards high-end, or designer brands. Me? I aim to find the best quality product, for as little as money possible, which is how i discovered the KIKO 3D Lifting Foundation.
I had only ever heard of KIKO a few times, not being aware it is for sale in the UK until I came across one of their stores by chance. The brand as a whole, i can only describe as MAC, but for half the price! The quality and range of products is a match to MAC from what I have tried so far from them!
But on with the Foundation Review:
Let me first tell you about my skin type- I have dry/ oily (combination) skin, that is also pretty sensitive to most products. I also suffer from regular breakouts, meaning the texture of my skin is not smooth.
The KIKO 3D Lifting Foundation is perfect for my problematic skin! The foundation, from the pump comes out quite thick and feels silky smooth to touch. It is a slight peachy scent, and comes in 10 different shades.
When applied to my face (using my beauty blender), it blends out easily and smooths over all my blemishes, helping me achieve the flawless base I desire.
Whats more its hypo-allergenic, meaning i don't have to worry about it irritation.
The smoothing qualities of this product is also supposed to be effective over time, however I can't say I have experienced this; perhaps the effects take a long period of time over constant use (i have been using it for 3 months and other foundations in between).
The Brands description of this product promises:
"A silky foundation - a pleasure to apply – enhanced by highly functional active ingredients that act on signs of aging from the very first application: your face will immediately appear more radiant, smoother and firmer.
Over time, oxidative stress and cellular stress are reduced and collagen synthesis is reactivated.
The lightness and softness of the texture, combined with the natural look of the pigments create a "second skin" effect where blemishes are eliminated and radiance is enhanced."
This product falls into the medium price category, retailing for a reasonable £14.50. I believe this is a fair price for the quality of the product you are purchasing! You also receive free delivery on all orders, if you order online, with a choice of two delivery options. Or just pop into one of their stores (find your nearest store here)

Heya,
Recently after looking for a budget alternative to the 'YSL Touche Eclat' Foundation, I came across the Collection Illuminating Touch Foundation that promised similar results. Knowing that the Collection 'Lasting Perfection' concealer is so amazing, I thought i'd give their foundation a try. The product promises a long-lasting radiance boosting finish with a medium/ full coverage which I would generally agree with.
I picked this product up in the lightest shade (1, Porcelain), working from the idea that I purchase this shade in the concealer. This is a fairly good match to my skin tone, however I do feel as though it would be too dark for those with really pale skin due to the strong orangey undertones.
First impressions: this product sits nicely on the skin once properly blended and worked in. I used a beauty blender which I feel effectively blended the product into my skin to avoid that cakey finish. I have also found that this product sits on the skin best if it dotted onto the skin with your fingers before blending, rather than applied straight to the skin on the beauty blender/ brush. Three pumps onto your hand and dotted onto face was the perfect amount. Overall I found that the coverage is quite light, however this may be due to the fact that at first try my skin was not in the best condition and fairly combination. This foundation would work best on those with un-oily clear, smooth skin, which I have found out as my skin have made improvements over time whilst using this as my primary foundation.
This super affordable product costs just £5.99 RRP however is currently priced at £3.99 at Boots, so its the perfect opportunity to try it out!!
I would definitely recommended this product to those who are new to the world of makeup and are not looking to spend a lot, and to those who love to try out new products! This is definitely the dupe for the 'YSL Touche Eclat' I was seeking!

Heya,
So a bit of a different type of post today. Being in my last
year of Sixthform and therefore last year of school, I am having to make some
very important decisions as to what I am going to do after I finish school...
There are so many options out there, and I'm not going to lie, I've struggled
to know what to do. I know what I want to do as an end result, but achieving
that is the problem... The options:
UNI
APPRENTICESHIP
GAP YEAR /WORK
My career goal is to work within a fashion company within
the social media environment, and I have sent off so many enquiries to multiple
Fashion Companies and Magazines to gain experience in this field. The fashion
industry is commonly known as difficult to get into, having an extremely
competitive market, so I feel as though this may be the best way to put my name
out there.
I have had past experience of this being a successful
method, as last year I was offered a week’s internship at Hello! FashionMonthly after emailing looking for Year 12 Work Experience. During my week
there, I developed my organisational skills, whilst sorting and organising the
Fashion cupboard. I spent long hours doing this, but seeing all the amazing
shoes, clothes and accessories ahead of season for both designer and
high-street brands made it so exciting! I was then able to walk through Oxford
Street looking at the window displays saying “I’ve seen this before”. I also
got the chance to help plan the ‘Agenda’ section of the magazine for the big
October Fashion Issue, looking through multiple press releases and catalogues,
scouring for items that spoke the key trends for Winter 15. I also developed my knowledge of the fashion
industry and brands, whilst also learning the different stages of production,
the roles within the magazine, and the ways in which magazines are publicised,
i.e. through social media. To get to my placement each day I had to travel
quite far, relying on trains, followed by a walk, but it was well worth it.
Laura, the Fashion Assistant at the magazine, and the rest of the HFM team were
all so lovely and welcoming and made sure me, and another intern on work
experience were happy at all times!
I have always been interested in working within Fashion
since I was pretty young, maybe 9 or 10, but back then all I wanted to be was a
fashion designer, constantly (and I mean constantly) designing cute little
collections, and creating my own boarding schools (Mallory Towers was my fave
book series when I was a kiddie) and designing their uniforms for every little
part of the school! But I began to see past designing when I came across
fashion magazines. Once I had discovered these I was hooked on the focus of
fashion and the journalism. Leading me to want to become a fashion journalist,
but being a fairly shy teen the idea of broadcast journalism or going out to
speak and interview at events did not appeal, and so I began to wean off that
idea when I thought this was an integral part of the job. I realise now it’s
not so much, either that or I’m not so shy anymore, however this lead me to
starting my blog.
So jump forward to around October 2013, I’d been thinking
for a while about starting a blog and so I made my first Blogger account. But I was really nervous as to what other
people would think so left it empty for about 6 months until I plucked up the
courage to write my first post, which has now accumulated well over a 100
views. I followed this with my first tutorial, how to create a hair bow.
Looking back on my old posts I realise they were not all that great. I used
hardly any words and the format was very basic, however I feel that eventually
they started to take good shape after I developed a schedule and became more
involved in the blogging community.
So far my blog has bought about many opportunities for me,
including my involvement in the new social platform Soapbox, a vlogging app
whereby its members can post short tutorial videos concerning fashion, beauty
and style. I was contacted to become a partner/creator for the channel, which I
excitedly agreed to.
I have a few goals for my Blog, both long-term and
short-term:
- · To become more actively involved in the Blogging community
- · To regularly post
- · To enjoy blogging
- · To keep my readers wants in mind
My involvement with
blogging has also allowed me to realise that social media plays important and
enjoyable part in my life and blog, which encouraged me to think, what if I
could have a career in this? That’s when I discovered Fashion Media. Fashion
and beauty labels and magazines will hire people to be in control of their
social media, promoting the company and discovering the new and best ways of reaching
the audiences.
So that’s my story and goals, now just to decide how I can
achieve this…

Heya,
(I'm so sorry for my recent disappearance over December. I had so many lovely festive posts planned, but studying took over, and i found myself once again, behind on posts. But its a new year now, and I plan to try and keep up with my regular post schedule (every Sunday at 10:00GMT) with some brand new content. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year!)
So I recently discovered that one of my fave highstreet stores, H&M has released a homeware range, so I had a little browse through and I LOVE IT! From Bed Sheets to Kitchenware, it has it all, and its all so lovely and captures that shabby-chic/ modern/Scandinavian vibe, all in one. I particularly love the copper and marble things- they're just soo pretty! Its also SUPER affordable, making it even better! I have selected some of my favourite items from the range to share with you all.

Heya,
So everyone has that one skincare/ body care brand that they LOVE and are religious to, but to be honest I never really had one, until I got given a bumper-size set of Soap and Glory products for Christmas... I now have my brand.
Soap and Glory is a British Beauty Company specialising in Bath, Body and Skincare. It has been proud supporters of Clean of England since it launched in 2006, and now shares its support with many other countries too! Its quirky product names are highly valued and known by almost everyone. Its most iconic products include the award winning 'Righteous Butter' and the 'Sexy Mother Pucker' super-plumping Lipgloss.
I had always looked at the products when trying to find new skin/ body care, but I never took the steps to actually buy any- the price was a major factor in this, as they are slightly more expensive than I used to usually spend... I regret this. From my first use of my 'Clean on me' Shower gel, followed by 'The righteous butter' body butter I was hooked. For starters it smells amazing; super sweet, but not too sweet. It also makes your skin feel super soft!
A handbag essential of mine is 'Hand Food', a super sweet smelling hand-cream containing shea-butter, Macadamia Oil and Marshmallow! I have this both in travel size and in a pump-bottle.
All of these products I have mentioned are scented with the Original Pink Fragrance which contains Lemon and Lavender Oils as well as other fruity and floral aromas. This is my favourite Soap and Glory scent, however another popular scent is Sugar Crush which is primarily lime scented.
Soap and Glory also have an excellent make-up range including its popular and iconic lipgloss, the 'Archery' Brow products and the newly released 'One Heck of a Blot' Foundation and primer.
All of Soap and Glory's products are available from Boots stores and Boots.com.
I recommend trying Soap and Glory products at least once, and I guarantee you'll fall in love with them!
